Q: What do you suggest for brides on a limited budget?

A: What are your priorities? If wine is more important than a smart wedding car, allocate more funds on that and save on others. And keep control of two key figures - guest numbers and price per head - about half the budget will go on food and drink, so the more people you invite the more it will cost!

There are corners you can cut without looking like it. Are you tired of the traditional dinner and afters wedding? Why not have a brunch instead? It's a family occasion so make it feel like one by letting your guests make themselves at home and help themselves to a buffet instead of hiring servers. Do you have a close friend or family member that has a country cottage or bought property abroad that wouldn't mind hosting your wedding? Maybe all those hours your brother spent obsessing over his car can finally pay off. Use his wheels as your transport to the church. Get the bridesmaids over for a wedding invitation assembly party or go flower-picking the day before the wedding to bring rustic charm to your wedding table.
