Q: What does Carraig Donn offer in terms of a wedding list service?

A: At Carraig Donn the wedding list is compiled with a representative from the store and vouchers are available for guests to buy. They do wrap the gifts but there is no buyer's record option and they do not deliver. Gifts can simply be held for collection at some of their stores. By way of discount there is a 10% voucher and two Crystal champagne flutes on offer with an additional 10% discount on outstanding gifts up to four weeks after the wedding date.

Q: How do you set up a wedding registry?

A: You can register as soon as you get engaged. Select a shop or website that sells the products you want or need. If one of you already has full set of pots and pans, pass over the traditional shop in favour of something you want, like a kayak or a vacation. Enquire about any completion programs a shop has, like 10% off the items on your registry that guests did not purchase for you. Find out if the shop or website will ship to a specified address and how they track items to ensure arrival.

Most shops will ask that you make an appointment to come in and select your gifts. If you can make the time, it's fun to go and select the pieces in person, imagining where you would put this decorative bowl or that candle set. If you're short on time, consider choosing a shop that lets you select gifts online.

Spread the word through your friends and family so guests know where to go. Check out the Confetti list of companies where you can register.
